Great post, Ralph! Too many people get caught up in the technology and latest gadgets that really only mean something to the pros. Common sense for better pictures!

I travel regularly too and from Europe and I break all the rules. :-)

1) Step one, Ambien CR on the plane over. It helps me get a good night sleep
2) Arrive in Europe early in the morning.
3) Take a short nap (no more than two hours). You don't want your body to think it's night
4) Go out for a normal European dinner. That means plenty of wine and not finishing until 9 or 10.
5) Ambien CR to sleep through the night.
6) Coffee during the day, Ambien at night for about 4 days

This way, I adjust at about 2 hours/day and am totally functional as long as I'm not sitting in meetings in a dark room (which I often am).

On the way back (west) I stay awake on the plane and up until about 9:00 the night I arrive back home. Then enjoy a few days of being an early riser until I fall back into my normal schedule.
