OVERVIEW:

Camera Basics

We’ll explore concepts such as the exposure triangle, including aperture and how it affects depth of field, shutter speed for showing motion or stopping the action, and ISO.  Additionally, we’ll discuss white balance, how to read a histogram, file types, camera gear and more.

Elements of Composition

Learn to create impact with your photography.  You’ll develop skills such as creative use of design elements including lines, patterns, textures and color. We’ll also delve into a number of artistic principals including the Rule of Thirds, proper use of negative space, the importance of foregrounds and backgrounds, symmetry and balance, among other basic and intermediate photography concepts.  This seminar will surely help you to understand what should be included, or excluded, from within the frame.

Image Review and Feedback Session

Each participant will be asked to send in 5 (five) of his or her top images, or those he or she has questions about.  Then we’ll put them into a slideshow and present each image individually before the group where Ralph will discuss how they might be improved, or exactly what the photographer did right.  This is one of the best ways to learn, and we’ll use your images!

No camera necessary for class.
