OVERVIEW
Although my tours have photography at their core, they’re full of wonderful opportunities to get to know each place as intimately as time will allow, and so are open to both photographers and non-photographers alike, so you’re welcome to bring a spouse or friend to cut costs by taking advantage of any double, or even triple, occupancy rates available.
Regarding photography, I make every attempt to get out and shoot with each person in a small group setting, and when I can I’ll arrange a private One on One session with each participant to discuss his or her specific interests and concerns about photography. Approximately mid-trip, I’ll also plan to have an image review and feedback session with each person so I can get an idea of where the participant is doing well and where there may be room for improvement so that, if necessary, suggestions can be put into practice for the remainder of the trip.

CULTURAL PHOTO TOUR TESTIMONIALS
“Imagine being on a crowded side street in Havana and your instructor stops by just to check in with you, to make sure you’re getting the shots you want and most importantly that you’re having fun learning your gear. Ralph never forgets that he’s there to teach. On the bus? A quick lecture. Waiting for a tour to start? A quick photo review. In the elevator? A question or two about the day, what went well for me and what would I like to work on for the next day. Truly, I’d travel to the ends of earth to photograph with Ralph.” - Liz R., San Clemente, CA (Cuba and Egypt)
“Just wanted to thank you for the Chicago Photowalk. Every time I go out shooting with you, I say that I come back with the best photos I’ve ever taken, and this trip is no exception! Thanks so much for helping me get to the next level!” ~ Denise C. (San Diego by Train and San Gabriel Mission)
“Put on your walking shoes and grab your camera gear and do a photo tour with Ralph Velasco. Ralph’s pre-trip get-together allowed us to meet our travel partners and plan our Eastern European photo shoot and gear packing. With lots of behind the camera time and as much help as you need from Ralph during your trip along with a group photo critique session afterward, your photographic skills are sure to improve. I highly recommend Ralph’s tours and look forward to another trip soon.” ~ Dave N. (Eastern European Christmas Markets and Cuba)
“On the Eastern Europe Christmas Market trip Ralph led us out and into the night for a whole new experience of photo shooting. As the sun went down cameras came out and we trekked to some great vantage points that Ralph knew for some unique shooting. I got images that I otherwise wouldn’t have seen without Ralph’s knowledge of the locations. And the beers afterwards … added to a great experience. Many thanks!” ~ Tony P. (Eastern European Christmas Markets, Cuba, Death Valley, Chicago, Joshua Tree National Park…)
“Thanks for a fun and informative tour! I got my best shots ever of Millennium Park and architecture along the Chicago River. I tend to get lost in the mechanics of taking photos, so I particularly appreciate that you actively check results, give advice on photo opportunities and composition, and organize posting of participant’s photos afterwards so we can see other’s work and read your critiques. The cultural aspect is a bonus–though I grew up in the Chicago area, your tour was a great way to better appreciate the history and atmosphere of the city. Thanks again for sharing your photographic expertise and regional knowledge.” ~ Keith Gorlen (Chicago and San Francisco tour participant)
