Here Are the Details:
ALL TOURS OPEN TO PHOTOGRAPHERS AND NON-PHOTOGRAPHERS ALIKE!
Joining a Photo Walking Tour is a unique opportunity to get hands-on photography experience with a professional photography instructor. On our tours you’ll gain in-the-field experience and:
- Learn to “see like a photographer;”
- Develop skills that will allow you to more readily notice photo opportunities;
- Begin to “think outside the camera” allowing you to capture more unique and varied photos;
- Benefit from practical information about the settings and proper use of your camera;
- Have an opportunity to discuss histograms, exposure, aperture, shutter speed, ISO and other camera-specific topics;
- If on a small group tour, network with and learn from other photographers;
- See and learn about special parts of Southern California and other locations around the world that we’ll be shooting, then come back and shoot at your leisure;
- A PhotoWalkingTour is a “green” activity with minimal, if any, environmental impact.
Many tours are by appointment, some have set dates and itineraries, so contact us today to make a time to get out and shoot and to inquire about pricing.
NEW! “Tour for Two”
Have a friend who enjoys photography and wants to come out and learn with you? Then a Tour for Two is the ideal format. We’ll spend a full two hours taking in any one of our tours (prices vary), all the while discussing your specific cameras and their functions, settings and proper use. Then, time permitting, we’ll get out and actually put that knowledge to use as we shoot in some of the most beautiful settings possible.
WHAT TO EXPECT
By using a small group format (typically a 6 – 10 person maximum, occasionally more, but additional instructors are usually added), participants are assured an intimate experience. We’ll discuss basic and intermediate camera techniques and creative photography skills that will provide the basis for becoming a better shooter. Topics such as weather, lighting, composition, recognizing and capturing images from unique angles, focusing in on the details, experimenting with depth of field, and many more, will be discussed and incorporated into each tour.
WHAT NOT TO EXPECT
Unfortunately, on the small group tours, we can’t get into a whole lot of detail on each individual’s camera and how it works, but we’ll try to spend a bit of time with each individual to go over his/her camera and its settings and proper functions if there’s time. We’ll briefly discuss topics such as file formats (RAW vs. JPG vs. TIFF), white balance and histograms, but only as time permits. We’ll touch on aperture and shutter speed, lenses and filters, but although we may discuss these subjects, they won’t be the main focus of our tour because the idea is to get out and shoot and to learn from the results. We might even suggest putting your camera on Auto, letting the camera do the grunt work so that you don’t miss once-in-a-lifetime photo opportunities and can concentrate on composition and other equally important techniques.
Remember, people take pictures, cameras don’t!
A One on One, or even a Tour for Two, might be needed for those looking to get into extreme detail about the camera. On small group tours, because of time constraints, and in order to be considerate of the other participants, we’ll work with each person to be sure that his or her camera settings are right for the conditions.
During One on One tours we can work with you as much as you’d like on any part of photography you may be having trouble with or are interested in learning more about, including your individual camera and its proper operation, settings and functions.
It’s important to understand that all tour participants will be required to sign a Waiver of Liability form which can also be found if you’ll CLICK HERE.
~ Other tours are always being developed, so check back often ~
PLEASE NOTE that although we will make every attempt to stick to our planned tours and routes, all tour schedules are subject to change due to weather, time constraints, unforeseen closings of facilities and/or parts of facilities, construction or other factors often beyond our control. We reserve the right to make changes to tours, tour itineraries, pricing, inclusions, exclusions, and any other information on this website, at our discretion and without prior notice. Be assured that this would only happen under extenuating circumstances and we’ll make every attempt to provide a comparable experience should a change be required.
